New Music at Messiah this December

Messiah’s Music Ministry wants to let you know that we will be singing some wonderful new music this coming 3rd Sunday of Advent (12/17). We are excited to debut a new setting of the canticle (song with a text from the Bible), “Magnificat” (Mary’s song), recently written by one of our Artists in Residence, Berit Goetz. This will be sung in place of the Psalm.
The Festival Choir will be singing a song from Melanesia called, Jisas You Holem Han Along Mi (Jesus you hold my hand) that was suggested by our other Artist in Residence, Jamie Dougherty.
The closing song on Sunday is one that Berit has used in her previous worship leading experiences with Intervarsity and is an Urdu hymn. It’s very energetic and rhythmic and should be a an exciting way to send us out.

We will be also premiering two more pieces that Berit has written very soon:
A setting of Psalm 89 on Advent 4, Dec. 24 at 10 a.m. and
A setting of the “Gloria” (Glory be to God) on Christmas morning, Dec. 25 at 10 a.m.
