Advent Service of Remembrance, Hope and Healing
Thursday, December 7, 2017
7 p.m. in the Sanctuary
Advent is a time of waiting and remembering. Waiting to celebrate the joyful event of Christ’s Birth, and remembering all the gifts that Christ has given us through His birth, life and resurrection. Sometimes our memories bring joy, sometimes memory brings sadness or a “bitter-sweet” feeling. For many people the Holiday Season is a difficult time. It may be due to a loss of a loved one, one’s health, a job, a relationship, and the list goes on. This service is sometimes called a “Blue Christmas Service”. During this service we will come together to bring ourselves into God’s presence where we can receive the gift of hope and healing. Come with your burdens and joys, receive the gift of prayer and anointing of oil. Through scripture, prayer and hymns, we will meditate on the themes of hope, peace, joy and love as we light each Advent candle. You may want to pray quietly in the pew while being blessed by the peaceful music and also come for prayer with our Healing Team members. May we share in the Light of Christ who is our hope this Advent.
