Is your life continuously overloaded, with little or no margin for healing, self-care, rest, relationship or priorities? Do you have a sense of balance in your personal and social life? Do you long for the lasting calm of biblical contentment?
These are subjects that Dr. Richard Swenson has spent decades pondering and researching. He will share his insights and challenge us to live biblically in these areas at a one-day Messiah conference on Saturday, Jan. 18, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. His three teaching sessions will address margin, balance, and contentment.
A full-time futurist, physician-researcher, author, and educator, Dr. Swenson has written nine books on the themes of margin, balance, contentment, stress, overload, complexity, progress, societal change, health care, future trends, and the connection between science and theology. Several of his books are available in the Messiah library.
Dr. Swenson has spoken to a wide variety of groups, including most major church denominations and organizations, members of the United Nations, Congress, NASA, and the Pentagon. A Minute of Margin was distributed to 30 heads of state at the 2012 Chicago NATO conference. He has given a dozen presentations at the Mayo Clinic, as well as hundreds of other national, regional, state, and local medical settings. In 2003, he was awarded Educator of the Year by Christian Medical and Dental Associations. He and his wife, Linda, live in Menomonie, Wis.
